brief history

Located bewteen the city’s old harbour’s piers, Marina san Giusto represents ever since the last two decades Trieste’s cornerstone for nautical tourism.

The port’s main feature is its location, which allows all guests to dive immediately in the beating heart of the former Austro-Hungarian empire’s maritime capital. A unique visit card enhanced by the breathtaking view of the Miramare and San Giusto castles, just a couple of steps away from piazza dell’Unità d’Italia and from all the main cultural, recreational and food&wine attractions of a city like Trieste, which within the Europen Union’s context, is doorway to the Balkans and to Mitteleuropa.

The Marina is made up by an old harbour for 9 to 24 metre vessels and a megayacht port for luxury yachts of up to 100 metres, hence constituting a comfortable and safe landing place both for ships in transit and permanent ones.

All the tourist harbour’s serivices are top-notch in order to fully satisfy each client. The polyfunctional building located on the Venezia pier hosts the technical and administrative offices plus a multilingual reception desk, a touristi information office an excellent fish restaurant and an elegant lounge bar with a panoramic terrace. Marina San Giusto, thanks to its cozy environment, a beautiful view on the city and the meticulous attention to every detail, is therefore the ideal dock for tourists and business people.

Set right in the heart of Trieste, the old harbour was built in 1991 and, in more than two decades, it has expanded its facilities up to the current 245 berths for 9 to 24 metre-long vessels.

The premises are well protected by the Venezia and Pescheria piers and by two dams, whereas the harbour’s architecture is based on aluminium and steel jetties and finger pontoons provided with wooden planking levels.

Each vessel must pay maximum attention to the sport activities and to the maritime congestion, attaining very carefully to the port’s regulations.
